Celebrate Arts Month with the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum

S For Story/10673826
~ As October marks the beginning of Arts Month, the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM) is excited to participate in the annual community celebration organized by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region. This month-long event encourages residents and visitors to engage with the arts through various exhibits and public programs offered by CSPM.

One of the highlights of this year's Arts Month is the groundbreaking exhibit, "50% of the Story: Women Expressing Creativity", which is also the first permanent women's only exhibition in Colorado. This exhibit aims to accurately represent the complexity, diversity, and uniqueness of the Pikes Peak region by showcasing over 150 pieces of art.

According to Leah Davis Witherow, CSPM curator of history, "In addition to the over 150 pieces on exhibit in the '50% of the Story gallery', we have added over two dozen new pieces to our permanent collection and will continue to actively collect in the future." These new additions will be incorporated into the exhibit, providing visitors with a new and enhanced experience as part of their celebration of art in the region.

To further enhance visitors' experience, CSPM has also launched a new online platform at cspm.org/exhibits/50-of-the-story where they can explore more about the art and artists featured in "50% of the Story".

For those interested in attending events during Arts Month at CSPM, they can visit cspm.org/arts-month for more information and registration details. The museum is also grateful for private donations that have made this exhibit possible, including a significant contribution from The John and Margot Lane Foundation.

CSPM has also planned several events throughout October as part of their Arts Month celebrations. Every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m., there will be free admission for visitors to explore "50% of the Story". On Saturday, October 11, from 2 to 3 p.m., there will be a special lecture series with free admission, but pre-registration is required at cspm.org/lectureseries. Additionally, on Thursday, October 16, there will be two sessions of "Little Learners" for children ages 3 to 5 at 9 to 10 a.m. and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interested parents can reserve their child's spot at give.cspm.org/littlelearners. Finally, on Saturday, October 25, from 2 to 3 p.m., there will be a free event titled "Stained Glass and Sacred Spaces: The McAllister Family History", but pre-registration is required at cspm.org/events/stained-glass-and-sacred-spaces-mcallister-family-history/.

CSPM is excited to be a part of Arts Month and invites everyone to come and explore the rich artistic heritage of the Pikes Peak region through their exhibits and events.
