Circus Harmony Welcomes Marisa Diamond as Guest Director & Artist in Residence
S For Story/10706519
ST. LOUIS - s4story -- Every year, Circus Harmony produces a full-length show featuring an original storyline under the guidance of a special guest teaching artist. This year, Circus Harmony is thrilled to welcome back Marisa Diamond as Guest Director and Artist-in-Residence. Marisa, who previously worked with Circus Harmony in 2019, is an Indigenous and Latina interdisciplinary creator and collaborator whose career spans dance, acting, and circus arts. Since her time in St. Louis, she has taught, coached, and performed across Chicago, New Zealand, Nunavut, and beyond.
Circus Harmony's Artistic/Executive Director, Jessica Hentoff, said "I was thrilled that Marisa was available to be our guest director this year. Her familiarity with our program and students combined with her international, multidisciplinary experience is a powerful combination!" An accomplished performer and educator, Marisa has directed and choreographed numerous student productions, coached artists globally, and performed aerials, acrobatics, and comedy throughout the U.S. and Aotearoa New Zealand. She holds a BFA in Interarts Performance from the University of Michigan—a joint degree through the School of Music, Theatre & Dance and the Stamps School of Art & Design—and a Master of Health, Sport, and Human Performance from the University of Waikato. She is also an accomplished photographer and filmmaker and serves as the Founder and Director of the Circus International Film Festival.

In her role as Guest Director, Marisa will collaborate with members of the Youth Performance Troupe and the St. Louis Arches to develop the 2027 annual show, set to premiere in February 2027. Marisa said, "While not a St. Louis native, I have been proud to call St. Louis, City Museum, and Circus Harmony a second home for over a decade. I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to return to the 314 to create a (hopefully!) exciting, funky, and awe-inspiring show with Circus Harmony's incredible students. Working with the young performers at Circus harmony is always a joy and a privilege!" Details regarding the show's title and ticket availability will be announced soon. Meanwhile, rehearsals have started and rumor has it that the theme is disco!
