City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Announces Two Final Opportunities for Community Input on Master Plan

S For Story/10673889
~ Bloomington residents are encouraged to attend an interactive Community Workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Pavilion in Switchyard Park. The workshop, which will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m., is one of the final opportunities for residents to have a say in shaping the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department's next five-year master plan.

According to Parks and Recreation Director Tim Street, developing a strong master plan is crucial for the future of the city's parks system. "It takes both time and resources, but it's one of the most important investments we can make," Street stated. "We want to ensure that our facilities and programs reflect the needs and values of our community."

The Department has been gathering input from residents since April through various methods such as focus groups, stakeholder interviews, staff workshops, and facility assessments of outdoor pools and ice arena. Additionally, over 1,200 residents shared their feedback this summer through an online questionnaire.

After the workshop, a final survey will be sent to a statistically valid sample of households within city limits. This is another opportunity for residents to have their voices heard in shaping the future of Bloomington's parks system.

The Community Workshop promises to be an engaging and informative event for all attendees. Residents are encouraged to come out and make their voices heard in this important process.
