First book in the Avery's Adventures Around the World series invites readers ages 8 to 12 to meet the world with curiosity, empathy, and respect
PUEBLO, Colo. - s4story -- A journey across the world can begin with uncertainty and lead to a friendship that changes everything. Author Sherrie Lemoine announces the release of Avery in Afghanistan, the first book in her Avery's Adventures Around the World series. Through nine-year-old Avery's experiences, young readers discover Afghan culture and the values that connect people across borders.
When Avery travels to Afghanistan with her aid-worker mother and stepfather, she meets Fatima, the girl next door. Their friendship leads to shared meals, language lessons, and efforts to help families affected by heavy snow and an earthquake. Together, they launch "Operation Happy Children," bringing joy to neighborhood children. Avery also experiences local festivals and visits the historic Bamiyan Valley.
