Florida Author Alicia Oliveira Releases Memoir Las Perlas de Alicia
S For Story/10706676
Published one year after her mother's initial dementia diagnosis, the memoir explores domestic violence survival, autism motherhood, Alzheimer's caregiving, faith, and finding one's voice.
TAMPA, Fla. - s4story -- Venezuelan-American author, speaker, and advocate Alicia Oliveira announces the release of Las Perlas de Alicia: The Stories That Shaped Me. The Faith That Carried Me. The Joy I Chose., an inspirational memoir published October 25, 2026.
The release date carries deep personal significance. Exactly one year earlier, Oliveira's mother received an initial diagnosis of unspecified dementia. She was later diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, beginning a deeply personal journey through caregiving, grief, and the changing relationship between mother and daughter.
Through her memoir, Oliveira shares her experiences surviving domestic violence, navigating childhood adversity, raising a son with autism, rebuilding her life through faith, and becoming a care partner to her mother.

"Every version of me left me with a pearl," says Oliveira. "For years, I thought strength meant surviving whatever life placed in front of me. Eventually, I learned that strength also meant finding my voice, setting boundaries, asking for help, and allowing myself to experience joy."
Turning Personal Experience Into Advocacy
Through her dementia awareness platform, Bonita Bonita_Dementia, Oliveira shares educational content, personal experiences, and encouragement for families navigating dementia and memory care.
As a mother to a son with autism and a professional in autism services, she also advocates for inclusion and family empowerment.
A Growing Media Presence
Oliveira has appeared on WUSF Public Media, Vida 99.1 FM, and PsicoTalks, hosted by clinical psychologist Maggie Pimentel.
She has also recorded interviews with The Dementia Collective, a Canadian podcast hosted by Andrew Carissa, and The Max Acosta Podcast, both awaiting publication. An interview with Telemundo 49 is scheduled.
