(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia Sewer division has announced that E.M. Harris Construction will be performing stormwater management work outside 308 Park Ave. as part of the ongoing Park Avenue housing project. The work is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

To facilitate the construction, Park Avenue will be closed between North Providence Road and North Fifth Street. Detour signs will be posted in the area to guide drivers.

Both the north and south sidewalks on Park Avenue will remain open during the work, with one side being closed at a time depending on where crews need to connect sewer lines. This is to ensure pedestrian access is maintained throughout the project.

The road and sidewalks are expected to reopen by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, once the work is completed.

Further closures on Park Avenue between North Fifth and North Seventh streets, as well as between North Seventh and North Eighth streets, will be necessary at a later date for this same project. The dates for these closures will be announced once they are scheduled.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly during this time and to follow all posted signs and detours for their safety.
