PRESCOTT, Ariz. - s4story -- New Cowboy Mike and Winston adventure introduces young readers to baseball with former MLB manager Pedro Grifol while supporting children's literacy.
PRESCOTT, Ariz. (October 2026) – Peanuts, popcorn, and a miniature pony are heading to the ballpark! Children's author Michael "Cowboy Mike" Eastwood has released Cowboy Mike and Winston: A Day at the Ball Game, the eighth installment in his popular children's book series.
Written for children ages 3 to 8, the beautifully illustrated story follows Cowboy Mike and his miniature pony, Winston, on an unforgettable baseball adventure. Along the way, they meet former Chicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol, who introduces them to the game and invites them to serve as batboys.
Young readers explore the ballpark, learn baseball facts, and experience lessons about teamwork, friendship, responsibility, and trying something new.
"I want children to have fun when they read these books, but I also want them to walk away having learned something," Eastwood said. "Cowboy Mike and Winston have always been about friendship, curiosity, animals, and making learning enjoyable."

Eight Books, One Mission
The Cowboy Mike and Winston series draws inspiration from Eastwood's experiences at Blue Mountain Ranch in Prescott, Arizona, where Winston, a rescued miniature pony, became the inspiration for the books.
Each adventure introduces young readers to new experiences while encouraging curiosity, kindness, and a love of reading.
The previous release, Cowboy Mike and Winston: The Quest for Clean Water, follows the pair as they search for clean water for their ranch. With help from Vickie Johnston of H2O Health, children learn why clean water matters to people, animals, and their communities.
Other adventures take Cowboy Mike and Winston to the racetrack, through the landmarks of Prescott, Arizona, and into everyday life at Blue Mountain Ranch.
Changing Children's Lives, One Book at a Time
Eastwood founded Pony 4 Precious, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, in 2016. The charity supports children's literacy, educational scholarships, and programs introducing children to horses and miniature ponies.

Through its community outreach programs, Pony 4 Precious has distributed thousands of free children's books to schools, families, foster care organizations, and community groups.
Eastwood donates 100% of his author proceeds from book sales to Pony 4 Precious, helping provide more children with opportunities to read and learn.
