Debra Fredette Publishes First Book, My Refuge: Finding Peace and Strength in Uncertainty
S For Story/10438144
BOSTON - s4story -- South Shore author Debra Fredette has published her first book, My Refuge: Finding Peace and Strength in Uncertainty, a story of her journey of fighting hate with love, advancing when you are afraid, and persevering when you are weary.
With corona virus, riots and unrest many people today are fearful of what tomorrow will bring. In a world of chaos and devastation how do people find serenity and security? In My Refuge: Finding Peace and Strength in Uncertainty Fredette shares how she dealt with similar circumstances and found peace and strength in a time of unrest.
In 2014 Fredette traveled to Uganda to help relieve the oppression of deaf children. The Ebola outbreak was rapidly spreading, ISIS was on the rise, and Boko Haram had just kidnapped 300 schoolgirls. A couple of weeks after Fredette landed at the Entebbe Airport the U.S. Embassy issued a high terror alert stating that American citizens should not go to any public of religious locations. As a white Christian woman living in a poor Muslim neighborhood Fredette stayed true to her mission.

Fredette is a native of Quincy, MA and resides in Cohasset, MA. As a missionary, widow, mother, youth group leader, mentor, medical professional and teacher she has been able to fulfill her dream of helping others conquer their fears, persevere through life's challenges, and become who they are created to be. Although she has a degree in science, her real credentials lie in her personal experiences in which she survived cancer, divorce, the deaths of immediate family members, unemployment, the loss of a home, physical and mental abuse, oppression and betrayal. She is currently working as a tutor and enjoys writing, golfing, skiing and fellowshipping with family and friends.
My Refuge: Finding Peace and Strength in Uncertainty is published by Briley & Baxter Publications in Plymouth, MA and is available through Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
"For many years people have told me I should write my story and I am pleased by the response to the book and the number of books pre-ordered before the publication date," said Fredette. "My hope is that the book brings some peace and serenity to people during difficult times."
