S For Story/10450835
CHICAGO - s4story -- On November 12, 2020 First Classics, Inc. and Jack Lake Productions, Inc. reached a settlement in their long-running dispute over rights to the Classics Illustrated family of comic books.
Although many of the details of the settlement were not disclosed, one outcome of the agreement is that Classics Illustrated and Classics Illustrated Junior books using digitally remastered artwork created by Jack Lake Productions will carry a notice to acknowledge that work and cite the artists involved.
The agreement also reaffirms First Classics as the rights-holder to Classics Illustrated. Jack Lake Productions will no longer be involved in the publishing, licensing and sale of the Classics Illustrated family of books and products.
Another outcome of the settlement agreement is that Jack Lake Productions has taken possession of a large collection of the printing plates that were used to print the original Classics Illustrated comic books, with the intention of selling these valuable pieces of Classics Illustrated history to collectors throughout the world.
