From Detroit Streets to Blue Ridge Mountains: KayeDinero Finds a New Sound in Western North Carolina
S For Story/10702110
The artist behind "Appalachia" and "City Girl Saved" says mountain life has changed the way she hears, creates and documents place through music.
WAYNESVILLE, N.C. - s4story -- Detroit made KayeDinero resilient. Atlanta made her entrepreneurial. Western North Carolina made her listen differently.
The Asheville-based artist and producer is documenting that evolution through an expanding instrumental catalog inspired by the places surrounding her new mountain home.
Songs including "Appalachia," "French Broad," "Hendersonville," "Starlight" and "BoomTown" reflect KayeDinero's growing fascination with Western North Carolina—not simply as scenery, but as an environment with its own rhythm.
"The mountains change your pace," KayeDinero said. "You notice space differently. You notice weather, light, silence, rivers and how communities develop their own personality. Those things started showing up in my production."

Her newest album, City Girl Saved, places that transformation into a larger personal story.
Raised in Detroit, KayeDinero later lived in Los Angeles and built creative and entrepreneurial projects in Atlanta before settling in Asheville.
The album title is intentionally playful.
"I'm still completely a city girl," she said. "The 'saved' part is about discovering that another kind of life could inspire me too."
KayeDinero produces primarily on MacBook using GarageBand, FL Studio and Logic Pro, moving between platforms according to the needs of each track while keeping her exact kits, presets and processing techniques private.
"The software is the workspace," she said. "The identity comes from what you decide to do inside it."
Her expanding catalog also includes "Been Famous," "Grace," "K-Mart," "Degrassi," "Super Ghetto" and "Pokemon Go."
