Governor Greg Abbott has congratulated the City of College Station for being designated as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas. This recognition comes after the city successfully completed a multi-step certification process, showcasing their commitment to developing tourism as an economic growth strategy.
In his statement, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of tourism to both the local and state economies. He stated that travelers to and within Texas generate almost $200 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state. He also encouraged all Texas communities to apply for this certification in order to further grow local tourism and create more jobs.
College Station is now not only a Film Friendly Texas and Music Friendly Texas Certified Community, but also a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community. Representative Paul Dyson praised the city for setting itself apart with these designations, stating that it serves as a testament to their commitment towards sustained economic growth and a high quality of life for its residents.
