Grosse Pointe History Day Returns February 7, 2026

S For Story/10681999
GROSSE POINTE, Mich. - s4story -- The third annual Grosse Pointe History Day will be held Saturday, February 7, from 9:00am – 11:00am. In a change from previous years, the Grosse Pointe Learning Collaborative will host the event at University Liggett School's Boll Campus Center, 1180 Cook Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. Admittance to the event and parking is free to the public.

To coincide with the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, National History Day's 2026 contest theme is Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History. After selecting a historical topic that relates to an annual theme, students conduct extensive research by using libraries, archives, museums, and oral history interviews. They analyze and interpret their findings, draw conclusions about their topics' significance in history, and create final projects in one of five categories: documentary, exhibit, paper, performance, or website. The winner from each project category and age division (Grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12) then advances to the regionals, then to Michigan History Day. The Michigan finalists then compete against winners from across the U.S. at the National History Day finals in Washington, D.C. held in June.
