S For Story/10655592
RIDGEFIELD, Conn. - s4story -- HamletHub is proud to announce that acclaimed contributor Ira Joe Fisher has earned First Place in the 2024 Connecticut Press Club Communications Contest for his evocative and locally inspired poetry series, P-06877-etry, published weekly on Ridgefield HamletHub.

Fisher's award-winning series won in the Short Story Collection category, standing out among entries from across the state. With both video and digital components, P-06877-etry draws readers and viewers in through lyrical rhythm, striking cadence, and the unmistakable voice of a seasoned storyteller. His poetry is filmed and shared from beloved Ridgefield locales, offering a tapestry of place, memory, and meaning that resonates throughout the community.

This recognition also qualifies P-06877-etry for a national award through the National Federation of Press Women.

"In ancient times a poet would be presented with a laurel wreath to acknowledge the poems from the pen.  Connecticut Press Club, you have acknowledged my weekly poem on my beloved HamletHub.  I write in solitude then offer that writing to be read and, importantly, to be heard.  In these troubled, divided times, poetry is a great grace that invites peace.

You have touched me with this honor.  Thank you.  And thank you, Kerry Anne Ducey and Ken Ducey, for HamletHub and for giving my musings a home.  A home that my poems and I love," Fisher says.

A renowned broadcaster, actor, educator, and Emmy-winning writer, Ira Joe Fisher brings his rich professional background into each piece. The series title pays homage to Ridgefield—its ZIP code, 06877, is woven into the name as a nod to his deep connection to the town he calls home. Ira lives in Ridgefield with his wife, Shelly, and is currently the Town of Ridgefield Poet Laureate.

Kerry Anne Ducey, HamletHub founder, shared: "Ira Joe Fisher's P-06877-etry series, both video and digital, resonates deeply with the community, drawing significant engagement. His unmistakable voice captivates readers, while his poetry, a tribute to Ridgefield's distinctive charm, aligns perfectly with our mission—celebrating the people, places, and moments that make Ridgefield extraordinary."
