iDARE® and Majapahit Martial Arts Bring Silat & Kali to Indonesian Celebration in Los Angeles

Panggung Gembira Los Angeles celebrates Indonesian heritage, community and the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia
LOS ANGELES - s4story -- LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Indonesian culture, tradition and community will come together Saturday, September 12, at Panggung Gembira Los Angeles, celebrating the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Los Angeles.
The free community event will feature Indonesian fashion, music, dance, traditional foods, cultural organizations, businesses and performers representing the richness of Indonesian heritage in Southern California.
Among this year's participants, iDARE® and Majapahit Martial Arts will present Majapahit Martial Arts Silat & Kali.
Guro Michael Dubin and Guro Marie Sia of Majapahit Martial Arts will demonstrate Silat and Kali, martial traditions connected to the cultures and history of Southeast Asia. Their presentation draws inspiration from the historic Majapahit Empire, which flourished from 1293 to 1527. At its height, the Majapahit Empire influenced many parts of Southeast Asia.
For Indonesian-American author, speaker and iDARE® founder Nicky Dare, participating in the celebration carries a personal connection to her Indonesian heritage.

"This is about celebrating where we come from and sharing that heritage with the next generation and with the wider community," said Dare. "Silat carries so much of what I recognize in Indonesian culture — discipline, respect, awareness, strength and community. I am proud that iDARE® can help bring these traditions forward here in Los Angeles."
Dare will introduce Dubin and Sia during the program as they demonstrate the movement, discipline and cultural traditions of Silat and Kali.
Panggung Gembira Los Angeles brings together the Indonesian community and friends of Indonesia to celebrate culture, heritage and connections across generations.
For those interested in continuing their study beyond the September 12 presentation, Dubin and Sia also offer private martial arts instruction by arrangement.
