Interabang Books Celebrates 2021 Independent Bookstore Day, April 24th
S For Story/10475420
DALLAS - s4story -- Interabang Books is gearing up for this year's Independent Bookstore Day (IBD), scheduled for Saturday, April 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Now in its seventh year, the annual event showcases the nation's more than 700 indie, locally-owned booksellers.
"Independent Bookstore Day has been a big, bustling, and happy day for us each year since we opened, and we're thrilled that the annual event is back to taking place on a spring Saturday," says owner Nancy Perot. "Our customers will find the store full of new books, staff favorites, special editions and fantastic seasonal gifts for readers and their families."
Spanning all interests and ages, this year's IBD offerings include an array of collectible limited editions and exclusive merchandise. "The publishers have really outdone themselves with the one day, in-store only specials they've made available to independently owned bookstores like ours," adds partner Lori Feathers. She and children's book buyer Lisa Plummer both concur it's the best assortment in IBD history.

Also on tap: Gifts with purchase, prizes, IBD-branded giveaways, balloons and more. Sips, snacks and sweets from neighboring businesses La La Land Kind Café, J. Rae's bakery and Pogo's Wine and Spirits will be served.
This year's IBD Author Ambassador is Glennon Doyle, a New York Times #1 bestseller (Untamed, Love Warrior) and long-time champion of independent bookstores and merchants. "They are—always—people who believe in and deeply invest in communities and art and ideas. And during this pandemic, in which we have lost one local indie per week, we need to prioritize investing in these local businesses who invest so much in us."
True to its name, the Interabang team will be equipped to answer: "What should I read‽" (The eponymous printed punctuation mark combines a question mark and an explanation mark—a blend of searching and excitement.) "As always, our staff will be ready with recommendations," says Lori.
In addition to publishers, the whole reading public has been waiting for this year's event, according to partner Kyle Hall. People are ready to safely reenter their favorite shops. "The great fun of Independent Bookstore Day is not just that new customers come in, but that faithful regulars make sure to stop by, too. It's a great day for book conversation and camaraderie."
