MASTERS by Winn Claybaugh Features Classic Interview with Iconic Celebrity Hair Colorist Brad Johns
S For Story/10705793
Brad Johns was known for as the colorist for celebrity clients like Natasha Richardson and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Interviewed in 1999 by Winn Claybaugh, Brad believes that everyone is an artist who can use their talent to make people feel better.
PROVO, Utah - s4story -- Before TikTok or Instagram, Brad Johns was one of the most famous hair colorists in the world, with appearances on Oprah's daytime talk show and a profile in People magazine. His clientele was a "who's who" of beauty editors, socialites, and celebrities like Johnny Depp, Natasha Richardson, photographer and artist Cindy Sherman, and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.
Having honed his craft at some of the finest salons in Manhattan, Brad elevated hair color to an art form, calling it the "accessory you never take off." A true artist in every sense, Brad excelled across multiple disciplines, including acrylic painting, gold and silversmithing, and glass fusing. He co-wrote his 2023 memoir, Dye: A Memoir of Art, Music, Faith, Family and Hair Color, with longtime friend Marianne Dougherty, who he met when she was publisher of American Salon.
