Naperville: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over This Season
S For Story/10679979
~ As the holiday season approaches, the Naperville Police Department is gearing up to ensure the safety of its community members. In collaboration with law enforcement agencies across Illinois, the department will be participating in a major traffic safety effort from December 12th to January 5th.
The statewide campaign, titled "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," "Drive High. Get a DUI." and "Click It or Ticket," aims to prevent tragedies on the road during this festive time. According to Naperville Sgt. Eric Muska, it is crucial for everyone to prioritize safety and make responsible decisions.
"Let's make safety our shared priority this season," said Sgt. Muska. "If you plan on drinking or using impairing substances, plan ahead for a sober ride home and always wear your seatbelt. Driving impaired is not only dangerous but also illegal. Our officers will be out in full force, and no excuses will be accepted."

To prevent impaired driving and reduce the severity of crashes, the Naperville Police Department urges everyone to take certain precautions. These include designating a sober driver, using public transportation or ride-sharing services, reporting any dangers by calling 911 if an impaired driver is spotted, and being a hero by stopping someone from driving under the influence.
Additionally, wearing a seatbelt is emphasized as it is one of the simplest ways to save lives in case of an accident involving an impaired driver. The department also reminds drivers to obey speed limits and avoid distractions such as texting while driving.
Funding for this campaign comes from federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It is part of Illinois' "It's Not a Game" statewide media outreach program.
The Naperville Police Department urges everyone to take these measures seriously and help make this holiday season a safe one for all. Let's work together to prevent tragedies on our roads and keep our loved ones safe.
