(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Public Library to Host SAVE-A-LIFE Event in Partnership with Local Organizations
The Columbia Public Library, in collaboration with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services, will be hosting a SAVE-A-LIFE event on Thursday, Oct. 23. The event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the library's location on 100 W. Broadway.
The purpose of this event is to provide education and distribution of Naloxone, also known as Narcan®, a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. This initiative is part of a series of free monthly events aimed at preventing overdose deaths from painkillers like fentanyl.
Attendees will have the opportunity to receive information and brief training from Public Health and Human Services staff on how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to use and access naloxone. For those unable to attend the formal presentation, staff will be available for informal training following the event.

Funding for this event is made possible through contract DH240054280 between Public Health and Human Services and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Additionally, thanks to a continued partnership between Public Health and Human Services and the Missouri Institute for Mental Health, participants will have access to Narcan at no cost.
