Suncoast Credit Union Announces $25,000 Hunger Action Month match for Harry Chapin Food Bank
S For Story/10702499
Donations made through Sept. 30 will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $25,000, to help provide nutritious food for neighbors across Southwest Florida
FORT MYERS, Fla. - s4story -- As Hunger Action Month continues, Suncoast Credit Union is helping the community make an even greater impact by matching every donation made to Harry Chapin Food Bank through Sept. 30, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.
The matching gift comes at a critical time as food insecurity continues to affect communities across Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties. Today, one in seven people and one in five children experience food insecurity, and nearly 300,000 neighbors rely on Harry Chapin Food Bank each month for nutritious food.
"We are incredibly grateful to Suncoast Credit Union for stepping forward during Hunger Action Month with this generous matching gift," said Jennifer Denike, chief development officer for Harry Chapin Food Bank. "Every dollar donated through this campaign will go twice as far in helping provide nutritious food for children, families and seniors facing hunger across Southwest Florida. We are thankful for partners who invest in our community and inspire others to make an even greater impact."

"We are proud to support such an important cause that helps our neighbors in need," said Jeff Kunberger, executive director of Suncoast Credit Union Foundations. "Food insecurity is a critical issue in our communities, and we are committed to doing our part to make a difference. This dollar-for-dollar match is one way we can help provide meaningful support to those facing hunger."
The matching campaign comes during Hunger Action Month, when communities across the country focus on raising awareness about food insecurity and encouraging meaningful action. Earlier this year, Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed its 500 millionth pound of food since opening in 1983. As the need continues to grow, the organization expects to distribute 100 million pounds of food annually by 2050 and is investing in the future through the Hunger Action Center in Fort Myers, which opens later this year, and a new Naples distribution center expected to break ground in 2027 and open in 2028.
Community members have until Sept. 30 to double the impact of their donations through Suncoast Credit Union's matching gift. Every contribution will help provide nutritious food to neighbors experiencing food insecurity throughout Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties.
