TORONTO - s4story -- Dudukhouse Music is excited to announce the release of "50 Armenian Folk Songs Anyone Can Sing," a collection of traditional Armenian folk songs that have been carefully curated and transcribed for anyone to play or sing. The book, which is available in paperback, hardcover and Kindle edition via Amazon in more than 40 countries, features 50 easy-to-play melodies, each with its own sheet music and audio. The lyrics are presented in both Armenian and transliterated English, making them accessible to non-Armenian speakers.
One of the main goals of this book is to make Armenian traditional folk songs more widely available and to preserve them for future generations. Many of these songs are only known through word-of-mouth and are not accessible in a written form. Some of the songs in the book are rare and have never before been published, while others are well-known but have not been widely available. By transcribing and publishing these songs, we hope to provide a taste of Armenian culture to a wider audience and to stimulate interest in Armenian folk music.
More on S For Story
The "50 Armenian Folk Songs Anyone Can Sing" book is not only a collection of traditional folk songs, but also an attempt to bridge the gap between the music and the cultural context of these songs. In addition to the sheet music and audio, the book includes English language commentaries on 20 of the songs. These commentaries explain the meaning and cultural significance of the songs, making them accessible to non-Armenian speakers. The lack of resources that explain the context of Armenian folk songs has led to many foreign musicians singing these songs without fully understanding their meaning. This book is an effort to change that by providing a deeper understanding and appreciation of the songs and their cultural origins.
The publishers hope that this book will inspire a greater appreciation for Armenian folk music among musicians, singers, researchers, music faculty and others. The aim is for all readers to find something of interest in the book and to use this shared love of music to make the world a better place for all.
