Why Did KayeDinero Name a Song After Hendersonville?
S For Story/10702109
The Asheville-based artist is turning Western North Carolina into a musical map, with "Hendersonville," "French Broad," "Appalachia" and other releases documenting her new mountain chapter.
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. - s4story -- Why would a Detroit-raised artist with chapters in Los Angeles and Atlanta name an instrumental after Hendersonville, North Carolina?
For KayeDinero, the answer is simple: Western North Carolina has become part of the music.
The Asheville-based artist, producer, author and entrepreneur has increasingly used places, landscapes and experiences around the region as creative starting points, including singles titled "Hendersonville," "French Broad," "Appalachia," "Starlight," "Barksdale" and "BoomTown."
"Hendersonville felt like one of those places that deserved its own atmosphere," KayeDinero said. "I'm interested in what a place feels like, not just what it looks like. Sometimes that becomes a title before I ever explain it with words."

The instrumental approach allows listeners to create their own relationship with each location.
That has become a recurring theme since KayeDinero settled in Asheville after a personal and creative journey beginning with her Detroit upbringing and later chapters in Los Angeles and Atlanta.
Her new six-track project City Girl Saved reflects that transition from metropolitan life toward a different rhythm in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
"I didn't move here and suddenly stop being a city girl," she said. "I just discovered that mountains, rivers and smaller communities could inspire me as much as skylines did."
KayeDinero's recent catalog also includes "Been Famous," "Grace," "K-Mart," "Degrassi," "Super Ghetto" and "Pokemon Go," showing a creative range that moves between geography, spirituality, nostalgia and humor.
