HIALEAH, Fla. - s4story -- The grand opening of the IMC Health Medical Center in Homestead, FL, affectionately known as "La Casita", took place on Friday, March 12, 2021 with Miami-Dade County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins of District 8 as the guest of honor. In attendance were executives and staff from IMC Health Medical Centers and several community leaders to celebrate the grand opening that was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The event started with a tour of the specialty practice which offers a full range of preventative and medical care services, such as women's wellness services, optometry, podiatry, gastroenterology, nutrition, and joint injections among other services. It is one of two IMC Health locations serving the community in Homestead.

Commissioner Cohen Higgins made the following remarks as she presented IMC Health with a Certificate of Recognition for their outreach to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic in Homestead: "Thank you IMC for your contributions to our community… heroes have become redefined during the pandemic, and heroes include healthcare workers. I am excited to see a new facility opening in Homestead. I will always welcome the opportunity to grow our South Dade community…I thank you again for your contributions to our community, not only on the healthcare front, but also in food distribution and transportation services, and really helping those who need our help."

IMC Health also unveiled the Wirges Wing at the Homestead facility, in honor of the outstanding leadership and commitment exemplified by CFO Kevin Wirges in directing the opening of the "La Casita" location.
