Imperfecta Gallery Announces Move to Portland's Pearl District, Promising Expanded Space & Participatory Art and Installations

PORTLAND, Ore. - s4story -- Imperfecta Gallery Announces Move to Portland's Pearl District, Promising Expanded Space & Participatory Art and Installations
Portland, OR – January 2026
Imperfecta, an art gallery focused primarily on women artists and underrepresented creatives, announced its relocation from Oregon City to a larger, more dynamic space at 809 NW Flanders Street in the heart of Portland's Pearl District, with a grand opening anticipated for February 2026.
This strategic move, which aims to provide more exhibition space while increasing visibility and foster community engagement through participatory art and installations, marks a significant step in Imperfecta's commitment to Portland's thriving art scene, reflecting its continued growth, evolving presence and dedication to its unique mission.
Over the past two years, imperfecta has grown into a vital platform for local as well as international women artists and underrepresented creatives, committed to exploring diverse art forms, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and supporting bold, interdisciplinary practices. With a program that spans solo exhibitions, group shows, and installations, imperfecta has earned recognition for its wondrous curatorial vision and commitment to community-building.

The new location offers ~3000sqf exhibition space, proximity to key cultural institutions, larger exhibition walls, a dedicated art reading space, a small wunderkammern and event areas. The Gallery will kick off its 2026 programming in the space in February with three simultaneous solo shows featuring new works by Italian mask maker Alessandra Gugliara, an installation by Portland-based Jennifer Gillia Cutshall and new photography by Eugene-based Sophie Spinelle.
Similarly to its Oregon City's location, Imperfecta's new space is deliberately warm, with an inviting ambiance reminiscent of antique cabinets of curiosities – a deliberate departure from the minimalist aesthetic common to many art environments. Growing up in Milan, Italy, Daria Loi imagined a space where diverse art types (from visual art, to sculptures, assemblages, interactive installations, conceptual art and art dolls) could entwine to bring wonderment and connection.
"Despite an increasing push to achieve, embody and portray perfection," said Daria Loi, Founder and Director of Imperfecta, "the gallery is grounded in the belief that nothing is perfect and that imperfections are what makes humans human. Humanity, unique narratives, participatory connections and a profound sense of belonging are our cornerstones, central to our decision making — from how we curate shows to how we collaborate or design our space. I am thrilled to join the Pearl District community at such a pivotal moment in Portland's cultural life."
