Adult day program offers 30+ art, movement, music, and performance workshops in a county where such programs are scarce
LOUISVILLE, Colo. - s4story -- The Silver Wings Arts Program has reopened at 908 Main Street, Ste. 250 in downtown Louisville, bringing a small-group adult day program built around art, movement, music and performance to a part of Boulder County where those options are limited.
The program runs morning and afternoon workshops Monday through Friday, 10:30 am to 3:30 pm with two – three sessions daily. Sessions cap at four participants and cover more than 30 subjects, from watercolor landscapes and charcoal sketching to theater improvisation, seated/standing yoga, drumming, aromatherapy, book publishing, gift-making and more. Adults 18 and over are welcome, and no prior experience is required.
Silver Wings Arts Program is open to both independent participants and those who need some support during the day. Basic caregiving oversight is available, if needed, at no additional charge, including medication reminders, light mobility assistance and general cognition support. It is not a requirement for registration. The program caters to both independent and dependent hobbyists. The mission is to provide daily meaningful engagement and creative outlets through unique and immersive workshop sessions.

The program was created from a deeply personal place. Director, Jocelyn Brown, holds a PhD in theater and has been a long-time educator, researcher, and writer. In 2019, it became necessary to relocate her mother, who was living with Alzheimer's in St. Petersburg, Florida, to Colorado. Brown was determined to have her mother age in place, at home, surrounded by family and 24/7 care. It became a full-time job of caregiving and Brown got certified in advanced caregiving, assisted living management, dementia care, and CPR to better serve her mother. It became clear that her role as caregiver also included program and activities director as the need to keep her mother mentally and physically engaged became increasingly more critical, particularly after Covid, when most senior activity programs in the county closed. Brown created a series of home-based art, music, and movement sessions for her mother and began to include some of her mother's peers. The activities sustained them through the isolation and added great meaning to their lives. Some participants were fully independent and ailment-free, some were living with early – mid stage Parkinson's, some were living with early-mid stage Alzheimer's. All were there for the fun and experience of creative engagement and camaraderie.
In 2025, Brown's mother passed away at 91 years. The Silver Wings Arts Program has moved to Louisville to continue filling the need for meaningful adult day engagement. The program offers monthly free events for the community.
