The 12th annual Islamic Arts Festival is set to take place at the University of Houston
HOUSTON - s4story -- The largest and oldest festival of Islamic Arts in the United States is set to take place November 15th & 16th at the University of Houston. Over the years, the festival has attracted visitors and artists from all corners of the United States, fostering connections and collaborations and sparking creativity.
The Islamic Arts Society aims to share the rich heritage of Islamic arts through art events, lectures, and workshops, promoting a positive image of the Muslim community. Art serves as a common language that binds diverse communities, and by promoting Islamic arts, the society hopes to foster mutual understanding and bring the broader American community together.
Famous Turkish Sufi music sensation Abdullah Kaymak will take center stage at this year's Islamic Arts Festival's evening entertainment program. Abdullah Kaymak is a dynamic performer blending the sacred tradition of Sufi music with jazz, blues, and global music influences.

The 2025 festival will also feature a stand-up Muslim comedy show, a film festival, a spoken art program, and an academic seminar organized in collaboration with the University of Houston's Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts. This educational session explores the multifaceted and evolving work of artists, museums, and scholars working in the field of Islamic art. Titled, "Convergence," the session serves as a platform for meaningful dialogue at the intersection of artistic practice, curatorial strategy, and academic research. There will also be Islamic art workshops for those interested in learning Islamic art. Attendees will learn Islamic Calligraphy from Elinor Holland & Islamic decorative art from Harouth Bastajian.
This year's festival will also bring together some of the biggest names in Islamic art in America. World famous mosque decorator Harouth Bastajian and multi-media artist Aisha Changezi will attend from Michigan. Calligrapher Elinor Holland and illumination artist Ism-i Nur will be coming from New York, and to complement this stellar gathering, Haidar Muhsen will be joining us from Dallas. Come over and see the art of these world-famous artists.
