Cryolab Publishes Planning Guide for Moving From Small Dewars to a Large Vapour Phase Store

S For Story/10707526
The guide covers sizing by vial count and growth, one store or two, automatic filling and alarms, floor loading and safe sample transfer.

WEST SUSSEX, U.K. - s4story -- Cryolab has published a practical planning guide for laboratories, biobanks and clinics that are moving from a collection of small dewars to a single large vapour phase storage tank.

Many cryo rooms grow one vessel at a time. Each dewar is bought for a good reason, but the result is a weekly fill round that takes hours, inventories split across vessels and alarms coming from several unconnected systems. The guide sets out what to decide before consolidating.

Sizing by vial count and growth. Laboratories are advised to count every vial by format and add a realistic growth figure. As reference points, the CryoBank 350-15 holds up to 15,600 vials and the CryoBank 1800-95 up to 95,000.

One store or two. A second store gives somewhere to move samples if one vessel ever needs attention and allows critical material to be split.

Automatic filling and alarms. The guide covers supply from a vessel or bulk line, controller monitoring of level and temperature, and who receives alarms out of hours.

The room and the floor. Oxygen monitoring and ventilation must suit the nitrogen held in one place, and floor loading must be checked: a full CryoBank 1800-95 weighs around 1,045 kg.

Sample transfer. Samples should be moved in batches, kept in vapour throughout, and the inventory updated rack by rack.

Cryolab supplies cryogenic storage equipment, consumables and servicing to IVF clinics, biobanks, hospitals and research laboratories worldwide.
