Free Independent Guide Shows What Business VPNs Really Cost Once the Introductory Price Ends
S For Story/10706092
QUEBEC, Quebec - s4story -- A VPN provider that promises to keep no logs asks its customers to trust an absence. A new independent guide, published by developer Benoit Gouthière, explains how to check that promise before signing up: by looking at the provider's jurisdiction, its independent audits, whether its apps are open source, and what the subscription really costs after the first term.
The guide, written in French and free to read, runs to about 100 pages organised in ten sections: jurisdiction and logs, provider comparisons, prices and plans, compliance for small businesses, remote access for teams, public Wi-Fi and travel, protocols, installation and troubleshooting, security add-ons, and common myths. It is aimed at freelancers and small and medium-sized businesses rather than at streaming users.
One finding concerns prices. In September 2026, a mainstream VPN cost between 1 and 4 euros per month on a two-year plan paid in advance, then between 4 and 14 euros per month once the promotion ended. Most comparison tables show only the first price. The guide's price comparison lists both, as published on the providers' own websites on 18 September 2026: https://benoit.gouthiere.be/guides/vpn-professionnel/prix-plans-vpn/comparatif-prix-vpn-2026/

Another concerns jurisdiction. The country shown on a VPN's website, the legal entity that bills customers and signs the terms of service, and the place where its teams work can be three different answers. Legal requests reach the contracting entity, and it is that entity's national law that decides what must be kept. The guide compares Switzerland, Panama, Lithuania, the British Virgin Islands and the Netherlands: https://benoit.gouthiere.be/guides/vpn-professionnel/juridiction-logs-vpn/juridiction-vpn-suisse-panama-lituanie/
"Most VPN comparisons stop at the first invoice and the flag of a country. I wanted to show the second invoice and the company that actually signs the contract, so that a small business can decide on facts," said Benoit Gouthière.
Both articles are part of the guide.
